Exit Doors

by Brad Keyes, CHSP, on Feb 22, 2021 1:00:00 AM

Q: Due to a state energy code, there is an entry air lock/vestibule at our hospital’s main entrance. Is the existing travel distance measured to the first inside set of doors or to the second outside set of doors?

A: The travel distance would have to be measured to the outside set of doors, unless the space between the sets of doors is a designated exit passageway, but that would require fire-rated doors on the inside set.
