Fire Alarm Pull Station

by Brad Keyes, CHSP, on Feb 24, 2021 1:00:00 AM

Q: If I have fire alarm system pull stations at all the doors entering a stairwell, do I need a pull station inside the stairwell at the door which exits at grade?

A: No, the actual stairwell is considered the exit, even though it discharges to the outdoors. Therefore, having a pull station within 5 feet of the door to the stairwell meets the code requirement and additional pull stations are not required.
